Some Much-Needed Weatherization

Now that the weather is cooling off, we have a little more time to sit at home and… rest. There hasn’t been much of that in the last 6 months! We applied a coating of low-VOC oil-based sealant to the siding after pressure-washing it to remove some of last winter’s water stains, and caulked like crazy as the washing removed some of it. We also decided that although we absolutely love the look of wood, the cedar-faced plywood wasn’t that attractive, and could use the protection of paint against the rain. We chose a low/zero (can’t remember – the least toxic exterior-grade paint available at the big-box store. It was by Behr) paint, and we think it really adds to the look of the house:

Next up, seal the horizontal band and the window/door trim. Also thinking of installing a removable awning over the French doors.
